Goff: "I have cherished each moment of my time here and wish for more."

Jared Goff has served as a type of cult hero in Detroit throughout the Lions' postseason run.

Demonstrations of 'Jar-red Goff, Jar-ed Goff' erupted throughout Michigan, including Red Wings games and the Detroit Opera House, subsequent to his leadership in Detroit's first NFC North championship in thirty years and two home postseason victories.


Goff stated on Monday, one day after Detroit's loss in the NFC Championship Game, "The last three weeks or however long it has been, it's really been longer than that, but since the playoffs began and we were able to win that (Rams) game at home, seeing the fan response, not only for me but for the entire team, has been special."

"Obviously, it is something I will never forget. I'm certain the season concluded differently than we had anticipated. The evening of last night was disappointing. However, the atmosphere during those two home games in the playoffs was beyond compare, and it was a tremendous amount of joy."

Goff performed admirably in the Lions' defeat to the 49ers and in no way contributed to the franchise's first-ever non-participation in the Super Bowl in two weeks. Detroit would have been one win away from the Super Bowl not for Goff's performance throughout the entire season, but especially in the postseason.

The eight-year veteran's contract has one year remaining, but the team could potentially negotiate a raise and extension with him and his representation this offseason. When asked about his long-term plans in Detroit, Goff responded that he cannot imagine being anywhere else.


"In regard to my future, it's not up to me," he added. "I adore this location. "Time will tell what transpires, but I absolutely adore this location, Dan Campbell, every coach, and every single one of my teammates."

It is not simple for him to gain the acceptance and confidence of not only his coaches and teammates, but also a blue-collar, hard-working city like Detroit. It must be acquired via diligence, perseverance, and aptitude. That was on exhibit throughout the entire season with Goff.

Goff, whose performance in consecutive Pro Bowl seasons has garnered him the starting quarterback position for the foreseeable future, has earned this honour.


"I've loved every second of my time here and would love more," Goff declared. "Once more, I adore Dan, the other players, and my colleagues. Although it would be ideal to obtain an extension, that is not within my control."
